Choose a niche for a blog is often a problem. On what will I blog ?

Niche blog is the theme of what your blog speak about (for exemple, Bloggers Tips blog niche is “blogging“, this blog write about blogging).

We will see in this article how to define a great and successful niche related to your hobbies and passions.

You probably ask yourself full of questions such as:

Do I know this theme ?

Do I have the skills needed to write articles about it?

Does this topic has too much competition?

I’ll show you a method I use for several time that will allow you to find easily a niche for your blog. This method uses the principle of brainstorming.

Managing a blog is not easy and takes time. You must choose a topic that interest you, so you can stay motivated.

We will use your interests in this method.

1. Write your interests

Take a sheet of paper and write a list of activities:

That you love

That you practice

That you are passionate about

For inspiration, look at your calendar what are the recurrent activities that are mentioned. Use studies, jobs, sports that you practice, your readings.

All these activities can inspire you for choosing the right niche for your blog.

You have your list? Good!

It is now time to use brainstorming to develop ideas for your blog niches.

2. Brainstorming on your interests

Read the keywords you selected earlier.

Free yourself from any screen, any element that might distract you.

Now write on a separate sheet all the keywords that you have in your mind which are directly or indirectly concerned about these keywords. Do this exercise for 10 minutes, write down everything. Do not filter the words you enter.

Write all keywords that you have in your mind, really all keywords.

The 10 minutes are up? You see one or two sheets filled with keywords? Very good!

3. Filtering and selecting your niche

Read one by one and classify theses keywords into two groups:

Those that interest you

Those that didn’t interest you

Keep the ones you want. You have a list of niche that interests you.

For each keyword, you need to analyze the number of results that provided Google to define the level of competition. You can also use a service such as Google Keyword Generator for more information about each keyword.

Select a niche that interest you and that you know. The goal is to give to your visitors great content, don’t forget it !
